Writer's Block: Forgive and forget?

I loved Lucifer very much, once; he was my closest friend, and I also respected him as His Second and the leader of the Host. He was the bright Morningstar; his name, Lucifer, meant Light-Bringer, and he was truly the highest, most glorious angel in Heaven.

And then he defied our Father, and Fell, and took a third of the Host with him. Heaven was never the same after that. I watched him Fall, and it hurt. And when we ran into each other after that... he was so changed, and yet you could still see vestiges of the angel he had been once.

Most of the time, as far as I am concerned, the Lucifer I knew is dead. But then there are times when I think back on our subsequent encounters and wonder how much of him is left in Satan.

Gabriel grinned, ruffling Raphael's hair a little. "I do know. I have Father, Michael, Uriel and you, after all," he said fondly.

Raphael nodded, snuggling closer. "I know, but you still hurt." He was the Healer, after all, and therefor quite sensitive to the pain in Gabriel's aura, a deep scar that was simply never quite healed. He wished he could make it better, but he had a feeling that only one Archangel could do it. He hoped Michael could forever heal that scar that the Messenger bore for too long.

(OOC. I was actually going to try to make one. One of the craft stores here have colored feathers and it should be fairly easy to hammer a metal bit to it. We'll see how well it works XD

Would it be okay if Raphael gave Gabriel one in the main RP?)

Gabriel chose not to comment on that. He just held Raphael close, thankful for the family he still had.

Hmm. I guess so, but would it be okay if you waited until after the nightmare plot is done? You'll see why I can't have Gabriel having anything to comfort him then. ;) <3

Raphael's eyes shimmered happily. He lightly tapped Gabriel's shoulder. "You're it!" Then he dashed off, laughing as he looked back to see if the Messenger would follow.

No prob :3 Raphael has to get better first anyway. And sure! I'll even post pictures :3)

Gabriel blinked. Then he grinned, running after Raphael. As the Messenger, Gabriel was probably the swiftest of the angels, but he certainly wasn't pushing himself to his full speed at the moment.

The Healer bear his wings, diving into a particularily thick part of the forest. He hid behind a willow tree, peering around the trunk, waiting.

"Raphael, you do realise this is an unfair game, considering that when I want to find someone I simply know where they are?"

Gabriel was trying not to use his powers, but the fact remained that if he was looking for Raphael, he automatically knew where he was. Therefore, he knew exactly which tree Raphael was hiding behind. Still, he made a great show of looking around near the tree.

The red-haired Archangel shimmied up the trunk of the tree, pulling himself through the thick branches. When he was nearly to the top he peered down at Gabriel. Stifling a snicker he launched himself from the tree and let himself drop onto the Messenger. And well, if he missed or Gabriel moved he would at least land on the pile of soft leaves and marsh that carpeted the forest floor.

Gabriel ducked, but not far enough, and they landed in a tangle of limbs and red feathers on the soft forest floor. Laughing, Gabriel pushed Raphael off gently, sitting up and brushing leaves out of his hair.

Here they were, two beings older than time, acting like children.

The Healer flopped onto his back and snuggled into the carpet of leaves. He stared up at the canopy the trees created over them. A squirrel peered down at the two angelic beings, curious, then skittered away. "Gabriel?" He moved his head to see him better. "Do you ever wonder what becomes of an angel when he -or she- is destroyed? I don't mean discorporated..." That just meant a few months of annoying paperwork, which, because of Raphael's very high self-sacrificial instincts, he spent so much time in that office they gave him his own slot box. It was a running joke, Who did you take a bullet for this time, Healer?

"I mean, do you ever wonder about it?" he continued. "Humans have eternity waiting at the end of their lives. What about us? Do you ever think about it?"

Gabriel picked up a leaf and held it up to the light, watching the leaf turn translucent as light filtered through it, veins still dark and clear against the light green colour.

"Humans have souls, and those souls need somewhere to go when they die," he said thoughtfully. "Heaven, Purgatory, Limbo, Hell... We don't have souls, though. I've always thought oblivion awaits us, though sometimes I like to think that those who were still in His Grace when they died become one with the Presence." Gabriel flicked the leaf to one side, turning to look at Raphael. "Imagine that, Raphael. Being One with the Lord, part of the Divine Presence, that flame within us and every living thing. It doesn't sound so bad."

He looked back at the canopy above them. "But then, that's only my conjecture."

The Healer nodded slowly, contemplating the Messenger's words. "Do you think oblivion would be better than Falling?" he asked. "I always thought if one Fell, he at least had the opportunity to Rise, but I heard that part of Falling means your very core changes. You don't want to be redeemed ever again. You become the exact opposite of who you were. I'd probably be a Killer or end up having to work with Pestilence." He grimaced atthe thought. "I suppose you'd be in charge of making sure mail got lost." He gave a chuckle. Without even thinking about it he instinctly reached over and stroked one of Gabriel's soft white wings, completely lost in his thoughts.

Gabriel was about to point out that although he would have loved it if someone had actually Risen, so far noone had, when he felt the light touch on his wing. He jerked away instinctively, folding his wings against his back, eyes wide.
